So this is the final (for now at least) version of my latest Maschinen Krieger piece. There's a few minor edits and additions from the greyscale version but nothing drastic.
I kept the buildings the way they are because it's supposed to look as though WWIII took place a long time ago (100yrs or so) and the people that have returned to Earth are in the process of cleaning up and starting again.
The concept of the destroyed city was inspired by artist Marek Okon and some of the work he did for a PC game called 'Afterfall'.
The Falke flying out of the sunrise represents hope coming in the form of these Mercenary fighters.
All told, around 12hrs of work in Photoshop PS3 and a lot of thought went into this piece.
It's a great piece and I can only hope to be as good as Marek someday. I did change a lot from his work though but when you're working with a big hole in the ground and some destroyed buildings around the edges, there's not much you can do to be 'different'.
I sent a copy to Marek himself and told him how much I loved the original and wanted to work in an homage with my work.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
