I don't know what it was... maybe the monkey flipped the right switch in my head... maybe the planets aligned for me...
I'll never know, but this somehow worked! Everything I tried in this piece just came together and I got exactly what I wanted.
I'll look at it again in a couple of days and I won't be able to stop picking out everything that is probably wrong with it but for now, I'm very happy with it.
EDIT: I told you that after some time I would pick apart what was wrong with the piece... instead of being upset, I simply fixed everything I thought was wrong with the picture and this is the final version (for now).
- Removed the head tails as they weren't needed.
- Added texture to the ground to make it more interesting.
- Added a texture overlay to the entire piece to age it and make it look less 'CG'
As i said, loving the work, and if this is speed paiting i dont know how good the stuff you refine must be

It's amazing how crappy the stuff starts out. Just basic colors on a blank canvas that I constantly add detail to. I've still got a long way to go until I'm really good at it and I should probably concentrate more on technique than speed for the moment (I'm just really impatient).
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
