Btw, thanks for the mention in your journal... being on your list with the likes of Andree is a big deal to me. It was his work that inspired me to start digital painting.
It's about studying how light and shadow interact with the world as opposed to the actual individual elements of the world I'm painting. If I just concentrate on painting the shadows on a white page, objects appear by themselves. The same as if I concentrate on painting highlights and light reflections on a dark page.
To put it another way; I didn't paint any rocks or trees in this picture, just the various shadows that light creates on them... the rocks and trees appeared by themselves.
Man, saying all of that makes me sound like a real ass-hat!
